
Program Summary
Pharmacy Assistants, also referred to as pharmacy aides or assistant pharmacists, work with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in a variety of settings, from retail stores to hospitals. Pharmacy Assistants perform administrative duties and work directly with customers to meet their prescription needs.
The GHA Pharmacy Assistant program prepares you for duties such as:
- assisting the pharmacist in the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy
- filling medication orders including measuring, mixing, packaging, labeling and delivering drugs
- managing inventory including monitoring, restocking, expired products and inventory records
- receiving written prescriptions and inputting prescriptions into the computer system
- maintaining computerized lists of medications taken by patients
- communicating with clients, physicians and suppliers
- looking after home health-care products such as canes, vision aids and hearing aids
- pre-packaging medications (including unit dose packaging)
- answering telephones and taking messages
- cleaning and sterilizing dispensing bottles and instruments

One Fee
- *The tuition includes all costs from start to finish:
- Uniform, Books, Binders, Organized internship, First Aid / CPR (Red Cross / St. John’s Ambulance)
- Liability / WSIB Insurance coverage, Professional Exams
- *The only exception being a VSS Police check which varies in price from region to region (~$19-23)

Graduation Requirements
- The graduate must obtain 70% in each module and an overall average of 70%
- The graduate must pass their NACC Ph.A Theoretical Final Exam with a minimum mark of 70% and their NACC Ph.A Calculations (Math) Exam with a minimum mark of 79.5%
- Successful completion of hours and evaluation from Clinical Placement
